The Director of Regions20 Asia-Pacific, His Excellency Nico Barito, Special Envoy of President Seychelles to ASEAN was guest of honor during the APEC CEO Summit 2017 in Danang, Vietnam. During a round table discussion Mr. Barito had the opportunity to introduced Regions20 to His Excellency President of Vietnam Mr.Trần Đại Quang, on the active role of Regions20 in mobilizing resources of sub-nationals to eliminate the impact of climate change.

Mr. Barito, also conducted official courtesy to the Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee, His Excellency Mr. Nguyen Duc Chung to strengthen the existing good friendship and shared the various economic, culture and tourism prospects.

One of the topic of concern discussed is the increasing volume of community waste in the city of Hanoi, and the importance of responsible management and how to convert the existing open sanitary landfill into a new resources. Mr. Barito responded positively to this matter and express the availability of appropriate technology and investment to eliminate the piling of solid garbages by conversion of waste to energy through a zero-waste technology. Regions20 Asia Pacific confirms its interest to work with City of Hanoi and develop a pilot project which successful outcome may be replicated to other cities in Vietnam.
